Growing up in San Diego CA, Cathy Stanfield enjoyed a childhood playground of coastal beaches, running along the sandy shores and swimming for hours in the ocean surf. A creative child, she believed her dreams could be caught in much the same manner that a surfer catches the next big wave; with confidence, patience and some well-timed action.
After graduating from high school she was determined to go after her dreams in the modeling industry and with hard work and determination she was offered a contract with the international legacy agency, Elite Model Management. As a model on Elite's roster, this meant relocating to Paris, France and then eventually to New York City. Driven with a passion to succeed her creative wave was just beginning to swell.
She spent the next several years appearing on the covers and in the pages of fashion magazines worldwide. Working with the industries' most notable photographers. It was not surprising that her own interest to explore the view behind the lens began to slowly emerge.
When she wasn't in the studio modeling for magazines such as Glamour , Vogue and Cosmopolitan, she attended photography and fine art classes. For many years she continued to balance a successful modeling career with a variety of art and photography freelance projects. These projects she pursued passionately and as healthy counter balance to the demands of a busy modeling schedule.
During these years she started a family and relocated again back to her Native state of California. She continued her study in oil painting and design and was accepted into the Design Institute of San Diego. In the early 2000's while on location for a catalogue photo shoot with Seattle headquartered Nordstrom she discovered the beauty of the Pacific Northwest.
Now retired from the world of fashion, she enjoys her time these days creating from her art studio and home nestled in the Olympic Peninsula.
